soggy soggy girl.

anyone know the cure for a baby that spits up a lot all the time?

harper is constantly soggy with spit up. she goes through several outfits, bibs, blankets and burp cloths a day. i don't hold her as often as i would like to because she will inevitably spit up all over me. even 2 hours after she eats, she'll spit up.

help, pleeeeease.

I didnt have that experience. But I have a good friend and a sister who have babies going through that right now. They told their pediatricians about it and the doctors did tests on them to see if they have acid reflux and such. They gave them different meds to try. It helps some babies, and some babies it doesn't. Maybe your pediatrician has some ideas? Although I'm sure you've probably already talked to the doc about it. :) Good luck!!

oh this was exactly how Kaylee was!! I swear, I will not be able to reuse any of her old clothes because she ruined them all! Anyway, Kaylee was bottle fed, so this may not apply to you.......but I would feed her maybe 1 oz and then stop and burp her (she would get so mad at this) and then another oz and then burp and so on until the bottle was gone. Then when she turned 4 months I would put a little rice cereal in her bottle and that helped a lot too. oh and one more thing, Mylican drops seemed to help as well. Good luck! I know its so frustrating to go through 20 outfits a day. She is so cute though:)

i should probably talk to her pediatrician, but everything i read says it's not a problem unless they aren't gaining weight or they seem distressed. she is gaining weight just fine and is happy little girl. she just happens to be ruining our couches, carpet, bedding, clothing, etc. with her excessive spitting!

marissa, we did the whole 1 oz, burp, 1 oz, burp thing. it didn't seem to help, but it's been a month or so and maybe i'll try it again.

Tommy was a spitter. In a major way. We got him on some reflux meds and that helped a little, plus I held him upright after every feeding for like 15-20 minutes, that also helped. But I still can't count the number of bibs we went through on a daily basis. Our Dr. just did the "he'll grow out of it" thing - and he did....at about 11 months. *sigh*

maybe put a little rice cereal in her formula??? or see if they can switch her to a more sensitive one... both asher and mya needed special formula. Mya needed soy because she spit up a lot and had reflux. they say sometimes pepermint in their formula helps. or holding them up for 45 minutes after each feed (like we all have time for that)... thats what we would do at primarys. .

Maybe make cute bibs as part of her outfits :) that way all you have to change is bibs and not outfits?

and also the 1oz burp method .. never seemed to help me but who knows..

and my final idea :) gripe water.. sometimes it settles their belly.. it helped asher with his colic.
talk to Tiff... i know she had the same problem with B ..

This was my life with Taylie. Her doctor had us try a few medications... one of which made her body digest the food faster (to avoid the 2 hour later spit up issue). Some worked better than others... but sometimes babies get "silent reflux" where they are happy but the acid is still causing problems in their throat from all the spitting up. We had Taylie on Prevacid for babies for a few months and she's all good now. Talk to her doctor, he'll be able to recommend something.

Baylee was the exact same way and it drove me crazy. Even when we stopped her 3 times during a feeding to burp her, she still spit up a lot. She was a happy baby who gained weight and didn't have reflux. Honestly, I don't have much advice except to possbily keep her upright (bouncer, bumbo etc) for 45 min after eating. Really, I just stuck it out, learned to cope with the extra laundry and ruined clothes, and eventually she stopped. Good luck!

Oh man I feel ya with this one. Ollie was the EXACT same. He was my little spit up king. He went on medication for reflux, which helped him to not be in pain, but did nothing for the amount he spit up... so frustrating!
