First Presidency

I am so excited about the new First Presidency of the church. I have always loved President Monson and I'm excited to have him as our new prophet. I was very suprised to hear that Elder Uchtdorf would be the second councilor. But I am, of course, very excited to get to know him better! I really loved his conference address entitled See the End from the Beginning.

Conquered!

Heather & I were helping with an Arbinger seminar yesterday and at lunch we decided to be brave (: The seminar was at the Radisson in downtown SLC, so we walked down to Happy Sumo at the Gateway. We started with tempura vegis & shrimp (YUM) and then ordered the Rising Sun roll (salmon, avacado & cream cheese topped with crab, green onions, lemon & eel sauce) and the Marz roll (tempura shrimp, cucumbers & spicy sauce topped with crab, tuna, avacado & eel sauce). We really liked the Rising Sun roll. It was lemony delicious. But the Marz.... not so much. I could have done without the tuna. Heather's gag reflex kicked in... so I don't think she liked any of it as well as I did (: And she thinks her mouth is too small for the big bites. Oh AND she had some issues with the chopsticks. Love you Heathy but I don't think sushi is your thing!

So I'm not afraid of ordering it anymore. I don't think I love sushi, but it was pretty good. Next time I for sure won't order anything with tuna on it.

Music & The Spoken Word

We had the wonderful opportunity to go see the Music and the Spoken Word broadcast this morning. The choir & orchestra did a special program dedicated to President Hinckley. They sang some of his favorite songs and one that he wrote the words to. The program included: How Firm a Foundation, Lift Thine Eyes, He Watching Over Israel, We Thank Thee O God For a Prophet, Danny Boy, My Redeemer Lives & God Be With You Till We Meet Again. I can't express how awesome it was to be there at the tabernacle. I didn't know this, but President Hinckley was the president of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. He had overseen the program since 1971. The spirit was so strong as the choir sang. You could feel their love for the Prophet.

President Hinckley's family was also there. After the broadcast, Bro. Newell invited them up to stand by the choir. Bro. Wilberg spoke about a birthday celebration that the choir had with Pres. Hinckley in recent years. A couple of members of the choir (who were great at digital imaging) added the Prophet's face to a picture of the choir so it looked like he was a singing member of the choir (: and gave it to him as a gift. President Hinckley kept this picture in his office. The choir presented each of his children who were in attendance today with the same picture (I guess there was some debate about who would get to keep the picture from his office). And then the choir sang God Be With You Till We Meet Again to the family.

It was really so cool to be there. It is very different being in the tabernacle than it is watching it on TV. And what an awesome memory for us to have (:

I don't get it.

Fear of Sushi

I'm afraid of sushi... so what? I've snagged bites of it off of my friends' plates, and I have liked what I have tried... but I'm afraid of sushi restaurants. Basically I'm just afraid of it because I don't know what to order. I'm not a picky eater. The thought of raw fish & seaweed doesn't gross me out. And I love trying new foods. I just really hate going to new restaurants and feeling like an idiot because I don't know how or what to order! Please help me! Do any of you like sushi? Or know of any good restaurants? Or have suggestions on what to try? Or want to go with me (yeah.... Sean IS a picky eater...)? I need the help of a Sushi Pro.
